This ISES Indiana event was so exclusive - no pictures were taken.  If you want to come to these Member Only Events join ISES now at:

MARCH MEMBER SPOTLIGHT :

Julie Wright

Sales and Events Manager

Howl at the Moon Indianapolis

Howl at the Moon Indianapolis

    • What is your title and position at your current company?

Sales and Events Manager for Howl at the Moon Indianapolis

      • What does your company do? How is it different than others like it?

Howl at the Moon is an amazing business.  We help people sing louder, dance happier and laugh bigger.  Our ultimate goal is to provide an unforgettable night out, every night.  It’s all part of the show.  What makes us different than other live entertainment venues is that our show, isn’t just a show.  It’s an elevated experience made possible by elevated attitudes.  It isn’t just about one of us, it’s about all of us.  You become part of the show even if you never go on stage.

      • How many years have you been in the industry?

I have been in the hospitality industry for 6 years.

      • What was your very first job?

My very first job was life guarding for the City of Indianapolis.

      • What lead you in into the event industry?

As a child I loved helping my mom with family birthday parties, seeing a smiling face from someone who feel special and happy is an unforgettable feeling.  When I was offered this position with Howl at the Moon I thought it would be an opportunity to do that again, but on a larger scale, and I was right!

      • Why did you decide to join ISES?

After a lot of research and questions I decided to join ISES to use it as a platform to get to know others in the industries and to continue my ever evolving event knowledge.

      • What are you looking to gain out of our ISES membership and how can we help you achieve that?

I am always looking to gain new friendships, knowledge and partnerships!  I think ISES can help others and myself do this by holding more partner events.

      • What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

I only have one kidney!  I donated my other one to my mother last year….share your spare!

      • If you were not in the event industry, what would be your dream job?

Interior design!  I love creating new looks in old spaces, it’s a fun way to spice things up.

EVENT RE-CAP: March Speed Networking

March 16, 2016

Thank you to all who attended our March Speed Networking Event! We would also like to thank our host, FORUM Conference & Events Center, for providing us with a spectacular venue.  The venue was transformed into a wonderful day in the park!  It was a great event filled with superb networking among ISES members and friends.  The networking was top notch!  As one guest stated the best part about the event was "The speed networking - forcing us to talk to each other was good."  Along with the amazing networking, the food was scrumptious.  Food Guys did a fantastic job with the different food stations - build your own salad, a soup bar, and a Panini station, along with, a lemonade stand. Another guest stated, "The food was AMAZING, the decor was so modern and interesting, and the networking was very valuable."

Thank you to Food Guys Catering, Aimed Photography, CORT Furniture, Atmospheres Indy, Sterler Productions, and KB Design for everything that you provided to make this event what it was - stunning!

Hope to see our ISES members and guests on April 21st at Canal 337 for the PACE Awards!  For now, enjoy the pictures!

Member Spotlight:Vince Early with Thomas Caterers of Distinction

MARCH MEMBER SPOTLIGHT :

Vince Early

Director of Sales for Thomas Caterers of Distinction and Co-Owner of Black Iris Estate, D'Amore, and CANAL 337

Thomas Caterers of Distinction

Thomas Caterers of Distinction

  • What is your title and position at your current company?

Director of Sales for Thomas Caterers of Distinction and Co-Owner of Black Iris Estate, D’Amore and CANAL 337

  • What does your company do? How is it different than others like it?

Our vision is to create memories that last a lifetime though a positive planning experience, innovative design, quality cuisine and exceptional service. In my experience I have been told that our innovation and commitment to the development of our employees. We have always had a strong commitment to education and this has helped us to stay current. We are constantly reinventing ourselves.

  • How many years have you been in the industry?

31 years overall, but full time with TCOD 17

  • What was your very first job?

McDonald's. I was terrible. Got fired after 6 months.

  • What lead you in into the event industry?

Our owner, who is also my mother-in-law wanted to retire and she wanted to hand the company over to one of her children. Kelly has one brother and he wanted nothing to do with the business, so we thought we would give it a try. We think this might work out OK.

  • Why did you decide to join ISES?

As I said, Kelly and I were taking over an already successful catering business. We had experience executing events, but running the business was another story. Because of our educational background we knew we had to find a place where we could learn about the business while we were in the business. A friend of ours, Sally Cooksey, suggested we attend an ISES Luncheon and the rest is history.

  • What are you looking to gain out of our ISES membership and how can we help you achieve that?

Continuing education and networking for my and our team. We are active in several organizations, but ISES has been the constant throughout the years.

  • What is your most memorable event? Why?

The COOK Corporation’s 50th Anniversary Celebration in Bloomington. 6500 people. That event is by far the largest we have ever done. That event forced us to look at many of our systems. We reworked and reinvented how we do things to make us more efficient and that has carried over to all aspects of our business.

  • What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

I’m a pretty open book, and most people know about my love of Country Line Dancing and playing the Ukulele. I do love public speaking as well. I have had the honor of speaking all over the world and it has been incredible.

  • If you were not in the event industry, what would be your dream job?

Performing in some way, shape or form. The event business is show business so this is a great outlet for me, but if I didn’t do this I would find my way onto a stage and behind a microphone somehow.

  • Feel free to add other information that will help get to know your business better.

Most people probably know this but we are adding a 4th member to our exclusive venue family. In addition to D’Amore, the Scottish Rite Cathedral and CANAL 337 we will be purchasing the Oak Hill Mansion and reopening it in May, 2016 under the name Black Iris Estate. Kelly Robertson, who opened D’Amore and CANAL 337 for us will be moving to that venue so she can be contacted for more information and booking details.
